Teachers of Our Teachers —
The Scholarly Lineage Behind QuranHeaven
The unbroken chain of certified masters who transmitted the Quran to our teachers — a living tradition spanning over 1,400 years.
Why the Chain of Teachers Matters in Islam
In Islam, knowledge is not taken from books alone — it is received from the mouths of teachers. The Prophet ﷺ said: "This knowledge is carried by the trustworthy ones of every generation. They expel from it the alterations of the extremists, the fabrications of the liars, and the misinterpretations of the ignorant." (Ibn 'Abd al-Barr)
This hadith establishes a fundamental principle: authentic Islamic knowledge must be transmitted through a living chain of trustworthy scholars. This is known as the sanad (chain of narration) or silsilah (lineage of teachers). Without this chain, there is no guarantee that what is being taught today matches what was revealed to the Prophet ﷺ.
The companion Ibn Sirin (RA) said: "Indeed, this knowledge is the religion, so be careful from whom you take your religion." (Sahih Muslim, Introduction). This is why at QuranHeaven we publish the names and credentials of our teachers' teachers — so you can see for yourself that the knowledge you are receiving is authentic.
Sheikh Abdullah's Teachers
Sheikh Abdullah, our senior instructor, holds Ijazah in the Ten Qira'at. His teachers are recognized masters in the field of Quranic recitation with chains connecting to the Prophet ﷺ.
Qari Abdul Aziz
Senior Qari at Jamia Islamia, Lahore
Specialized in the Ten Qira'at. Studied for 12 years under Qari Muhammad Ismail. Qari Abdul Aziz is one of the foremost experts in Qira'at in the Indian subcontinent. He personally trained Sheikh Abdullah over several years, transmitting the complete chain of Ten Qira'at with full Ijazah. His recitation of Hafs 'an 'Asim is considered exemplary, and his mastery of the less common Qira'at (such as Warsh, Qalun, and Al-Duri) is among the finest in the region.
Qari Muhammad Ismail
Renowned Qari from Pakistan
Known for mastery in Hafs 'an 'Asim and the Ten Qira'at. Student of Qari Abdur Rahman. Qari Muhammad Ismail is widely regarded as one of the most meticulous scholars of Quranic recitation of his generation. He dedicated his life to preserving the exact pronunciation and rulings transmitted through the authentic chains. His students, including Qari Abdul Aziz, continue his legacy by teaching the next generation of Quran scholars.
"The Quran was revealed in seven modes of recitation (ahruf). To master even one is a great blessing, but to preserve all ten is a trust from Allah that must be passed on precisely as received."

The Blessing of Connected Knowledge
In Islamic tradition, knowledge that is transmitted through a living chain carries a special barakah. This is not merely a metaphor — scholars throughout Islamic history have observed that students who learn through a connected chain retain knowledge better, develop deeper reverence for the Quran, and are more likely to become teachers themselves.
Imam al-Shafi'i (RA) said: "Whoever seeks knowledge without a teacher will go astray." This is because a teacher does not simply transmit information — they transmit presence, adab (etiquette), and the living spirit of the Quran. A book can tell you the rules of Tajweed, but only a teacher can hear your recitation, correct your mistakes, and guide your heart.
At QuranHeaven, we preserve this tradition. Our teachers do not just read from a screen — they connect with you personally, just as their teachers connected with them. This is the Islamic way of learning the Quran, preserved for over 1,400 years and offered to you today.
