How is Islamic studies different from Quran reading?
Quran reading lessons focus on Arabic script and recitation. This course focuses on Islamic beliefs, worship, Seerah, Duas and manners. The six-module syllabus below shows the children and adult tracks separately.
Beliefs and history
Aqeedah, Seerah and prophetic stories introduce beliefs and their historical context.
Worship and daily practice
Duas and practical Fiqh cover topics such as purification, prayer and fasting.
Manners and character
Aadab connects the curriculum with everyday conduct. Discuss the appropriate learning track during your trial.

Is this the right learning pathway?
Children or adults seeking age-appropriate lessons in foundational beliefs, worship, Seerah, duas and everyday manners. This pathway is different from a course focused on Arabic reading.
What to bring to the first lesson
Share the learner’s age, existing knowledge and the topic they need help understanding. Explain any family curriculum or school of thought preference before lessons begin.
A sample lesson
Illustrative teaching sequence; your tutor should adjust it to the learner.
- Introduce one topic with a clear explanation and a source appropriate to the lesson.
- Discuss an everyday example and invite the learner to ask a question.
- Ask the learner to explain the idea back in their own words and agree one small review activity.
How to check progress
- Explains the lesson’s main idea without only repeating a memorized sentence.
- Distinguishes the source text from a teacher’s explanatory example.
- Connects the topic to an age-appropriate daily situation and asks relevant questions.
Between classes
Review one idea or dua and discuss its meaning. Keep questions that require an individual religious ruling for a qualified scholar who knows the relevant circumstances.
Does Islamic studies automatically include Quran reading?
They have different learning objectives. Ask admissions whether your proposed plan combines them and how lesson time will be divided. A reading assessment is useful if recitation is also a goal.

Choosing a tutor and weekly routine
Use the trial to see how the tutor explains a correction and responds when you need more time. Ask about relevant experience, teaching language and current availability. If a particular Ijazah or specialist qualification matters to your choice, request the assigned teacher’s supporting details.
Agree the goal, lesson length and home-practice task before paid lessons begin. After several classes, review a fresh reading sample or previously learned passage together. Progress should be described through observable skills and the prompts still needed.
