Ijazah (plural: Ijazat) is an Islamic scholarly certification that authorizes its holder to transmit specific knowledge — in this case, the Quran with proper Tajweed. The word itself means "permission" or "authorization." Unlike a university diploma, an Ijazah is personally transmitted from teacher to student through a direct, unbroken chain of teachers known as a sanad (chain of narration).

Our Ijazah Verification Process
We do not accept Ijazah certificates at face value. Every Ijazah presented by a teacher is rigorously verified before they are approved. Here is how:

The physical or digital Ijazah certificate is examined for authenticity, including signatures, seals, and formatting of recognized institutions.
Sanad Chain Tracing
We trace every name in the teacher's sanad chain, verifying each scholar is a known, documented figure in the tradition of Quranic transmission.
Institution Verification
We contact the issuing institution or scholar to confirm the teacher studied under them and was granted Ijazah.
Recitation Cross-Check
The teacher's actual recitation is evaluated by our senior instructor to ensure it matches the level expected of an Ijazah holder. A certificate means nothing if the recitation does not match.

How to Verify a Teacher's Ijazah
As a student, you have the right to verify your teacher's credentials. Here is what you can ask your Quran teacher:

A legitimate Ijazah holder should be able to name their teacher, their teacher's teacher, and at least the major links in the chain.
📌 "Which institution or scholar granted your Ijazah?"
The institution should be a recognized Islamic seminary or a known scholar in the field of Qira'at.
📌 "Can you recite from a random page with proper Tajweed?"
An Ijazah holder can recite any Ayah of the Quran with perfect Tajweed, not just the Surahs they have memorized.
